We have been a family owned and operated company from the very beginning. Smith Iron & Metal was founded on the principle of treating the customers with the utmost respect. This core belief has enabled us to give the fastest, friendliest service possible.

Today Smith Iron & Metal has utilized technology to further enhance our customer’s experience. State of the art computers allow us to complete a customer’s transactions in mere moments. Smith Iron & Metal’s new shredder facility enables us to process metals at a rate far exceeding that of our previous efforts. 

Smith Iron & Metal takes pride in having a debris free customer area. Our lot is completely paved.

History:
1940 – Charles A. Smith, Sr. founded Smith Junk and Salvage. The original location was 1805 East Cary Street, Richmond, Virginia.

1965 – Smith Junk and Salvage incorporated and became Smith Iron & Metal Co., Inc.

1975 – Opened second location at 3000 Bells Road, Richmond, Virginia

1991 – Consolidated operations to 3000 Bells Road

2006 – Added state of the art computer system to increase the speed and efficiency of operations.

2007 – Constructed the new shredder facility
